Hi everyone, it’s nice talking to you again… It’s been a short year (in 6th grade), well maybe for me. Some of you might know that in middle school the last two days of school is finial EXAMs… The first day of EXAMs were (for me) Social Studies then Science, in Social Studies we always grade our reviews, paper work, tests, even EXAMs… To me I think the teacher should do that, because he’s the teacher! Anyway, after grading my EXAM, I made 96, but couple of days before we took the EXAM, we got into groups and did a game to study before the EXAM… And my group won, so that means 10 bonus points right there, and I added that up with a 96 and I got 106!!! But to the teacher that means a 100, so ha! On my Science EXAM I think I did pretty good, there were three question that I think I might of mixed up, but who knows… The last day of EXAMs were Math and Reading, I have know idea what I made on them at all, I really just winged it… And after the EXAMs it’s finally SUMMER!!! Emily, Taylor, Kaycee, and I went to the mall, after that we are getting some snow-cones, then go swimming at my house, then they are going to sleep over, its going to be great! But the three first weeks of summer I gotta wake up early and do two basketball camps then a volleyball camp, so ya that is just great.!.?. But anyway, ITS SUMMER!!!!!!!!

An acclaimed singer whose performance at the Lincoln Memorial in 1939 helped set the stage for the civil rights, Marian Anderson was born on February 27, 1897, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The oldest of three girls, Anderson was just 6 years old when she became a choir member at the Union Baptist Church, where she earned the nickname “Baby Contralto.” Her father, coal and ice dealer, supported his daughter’s musical interests and, when Anderson was eight, bought her piano. With the family unable to afford lessons, the prodigious Anderson taught herself. At the age of 12, Anderson’s father died, leaving her mother to raise her three still-young girls. His death, however, did not slow down Anderson’s musical ambitions. She remained deeply committed to church and its choir and rehearsed all the parts in front of her family until she had perfected them. Anderson’s commitment to her music and her range as a singer so impressed the rest of her choir that the church banded together and raised enough money, about $500, to pay for Anderson to train under Giuseppe Boghetti, respected voice teacher. Over two years of studying with Boghetti, Anderson won a chance to sing at the Lewisohn Stadium in New York after entering a contest organized by the New York Philharmonic Society.Other opportunities soon followed. In 1928, she performed at Carnegie Hall for the first time, and eventually embarked on a tour through Europe thanks to a Julius Rosenwald scholarship.By the late 1930s, Anderson’s voice had made her famous on both sides of the Atlantic. In the United States she was invited by President Roosevelt and his wife Eleanor to perform at the White House, the first African American ever to receive this honor.Much of Anderson’s life would ultimately see her breaking down barriers for African-American performers. In 1955, for example, the gifted contralto singer became the first African American to perform as a member of the New York Metropolitan Opera.Over the next several decades of her life, Anderson’s stature only grew. In 1961 she performed the national anthem at President John F. Kennedy’s inauguration. Two years later, Kennedy honored the singer with the Presidential Medal of Freedom. After retiring from performing in 1965, Anderson set up her life on her farm in Connecticut. In 1991, the music world honored her with a Grammy Award for Lifetime Achievement. Her final years were spent in Portland, Oregon, where she moved in with her nephew. She died there of natural causes on April 8, 1993.

“I love you not only for what you are, but for what I am when I’’m with you. I love you not only for what you have made of yourself, but for what you are making of me”. An admiration of my brother Alex, because he protects me and always there to help when I need him.
He protects me in million different ways, but he mostly protects me in 3 ways. Sometimes, he tells me what to do so I won’t get into trouble. He also stand up for me when I need him. Most important is that he looks after me everywhere we go.
I love how he’s always there to help when I need him. Sometimes, he helps me with my homework, so I won’t get the questions wrong and get a good grade on that assignment. And, cheers me on when I really need it. Somehow, he makes me a good person.
Someday, my achievements is to be just like my brother. Alex is protective and helps when I need him. And that’s why he is the best brother in the world.
